This is a Substack of fiction.
My professional name is Matthew T. Price, and I’m a screenwriter by trade. As is common in Hollywood, most of my screenplays have never been produced. I did get one feature film made, Other Halves, a horror movie about a killer dating app.
Probably my best short film is EXT. LOS ANGELES - DAY, the story of a struggling actress who becomes a struggling writer.
But this is a Substack of fiction. As I explained in my re-introduction, I’ve decided to return to my writing roots in prose.
Why Little Toy Boat?
The first “grown up” novel I ever read was It. I was about the age of the child characters at the time, so it had a profound effect on me and the way I understood growing up. I re-read it about 27 years later, when I was the age of the adults, and wasn’t at all surprised to find it held up.
With every creative endeavor I’ve embarked on, whether it was a comedy or horror or whatever, I marked it with Little Toy Boat, because of this cover.
